With her background as a medical doctor, Dr Khumri is able to offer unique, individually-tailored treatments providing a holistic and balanced approach to managing health. When practised regularly, yoga therapy can reduce symptons and therefore the use of medication.

ASSESSMENT At the first consultation Dr Khumri will make a full assessment of your medical condition, constitution and lifestyle after taking a thorough history and full physical examination. She is trained to recognise any serious underlying conditions and possible limitations of therapy and will make this apparent at the outset.

TAILORED PROGRAMME A mutually agreed, individually-tailored programme will then be designed. This will be a graduated routine incorporating yoga postures and flows, breathing techniques and deep relaxation to promote restoration of health.

SELF MANAGEMENT Once the techniques appropriate for the condition have been learnt, an individual will be able to practice them independently. Dr Khumri firmly believes that a person should be empowered to manage their own health, equipped with the correct tools and understanding of their condition.

YOGA THERAPY IS OFFERED FOR:
• Respiratory conditions (asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, chronic sinusitis, allergy);
• Cardiovascular conditions (heart failure, hypertension, palpitations, varicose veins);
• Gastrointestinal conditions (acidity, constipation, IBS, piles);
• Endocrine conditions (diabetes, obesity, PMS, hypothyroid, menopause);
• Stress and related disorders including insomnia, anxiety and depression;
• Arthritis, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome;
• Musculoskeletal conditions resulting from injuries and postural imbalance, in particular mechanical back pain and sciatica;
• Pregnancy to promote positive health in preparation for childbirth and the postnatal care for mother and child.

"When the breath wanders the mind also is unsteady. But when the breath is calmed the mind too will be still, and the yogi achieves long life. Therefore, one should learn to control the breath.
